As I review the past year, 2007 was full of a lot of fun times and meeting new friends. That is what GWTA is all about.
Chapter H was created the end of January, 2007 and has been growing and busy ever since.
March had a Motorcycle Safety Forum put on by the State of Iowa. Connie, Dennis and Donna Pittman attended. This was a very informative and valuable forum because you are participating and adding your comments and thoughts about what could make motorcycle riding more safe. It was filled with speakers, venders and a really good lunch, and is free to Motorcyclists. Would recommend anyone attend in 2008. The event is being held at the Sheraton on 50th on March 14, 2008.
We started out in the Spring, in April, camping at Onawa KOA and riding up to check out camping for Goldrush in Sioux Falls, SD. We were glad we did! The fairgrounds shower and bathrooms were not really very nice.
Dennis and Donna Pittman were not able to go because our very first planned ride was to GWTA's Kansas City Spring Fling. We were going camping. As they were getting ready to get on the bike, Dennis stepped off and twisted his knee. While at the ER, he was having a heart attack and had to have stents placed and let his knee heal. Someone was watching over them, so they were not on the road on the bike pulling the camper when his heart attacks occurred. Rick and Patti, George and Peggy, Bill and Dee and we camped at Watkins Mill in Missouri and then rode on to the ride. It was a pretty nice day and we had a long ride. We were surprised to see Jan and Jerry there when we returned from the ride. They had a great meal and auction and prize give away. We had a great time and really enjoy their Spring Fling.
We attended a welcome party for the new chapter, Chapter J in Essex. We camped at Lake Victoria and found out that the Bunkhouse will withstand some very strong winds! We were in near tornado winds. A town nearby had some interesting teapot water towers and great breakfast! Dee was trying to read during the storm and was rudely interrupted by her awning falling in on her by the wind!
