Make sure you check Iowa's GWTA site frequently at www.iowagwta.com. Dennis Pittman, our State Safety Director, (and our Chapter Safety officer), has a great article to read.
For our next chapter meeting, in April, he is doing a Safety tune-up ride before our meal on April 26th. Stay tuned for more information on this!
Everyone watch the roads for all of the potholes and the sand and chemicals still on the road from this crazy winter!

Wearing the Green!
We had our meeting on March 15th and our green shirts were perfect for ST Patrick's Day celebrations. Notice Bill's cool green hat! He was the only one that rode his motorcycle to our meeting!

Finally, there have been some decent temperatures and snow is melting. Roads are still covered at times with ice and a lot of wet spots from the snow melting. Roads are full of pot holes, sand and chemicals from this winter. We are ready to ride! There are signs of spring with the Robins and some brave souls venturing out on their motorcycles.
Chapter H had it’s meeting on March 15th at Okoboji Grill. We had a good turnout of 22 members with some out of town. Our Green shirts fit in with the ST Patrick’s Day theme of the weekend! :)
Chapter Shirts are available from Donna Pittman
Chapter Patches are $5.00 a piece
We will be leaving from the Wynnsong parking lot for our supper rides.
Christmas party will be at the Country Kitchen on NE 14th Street, December 13th, at 6:00 p.m. Patti volunteered to be on the decorating committee. As time gets closer, we can decide on games, munchies or whatever.
Dennis Pittman is going to set up a safety ride tune-up for April 26th. Those that want to do the safety course can come and then we will ride back to Okoboji Grill on 86th St for a short meeting, if needed, and then a meal. This will replace our regular meeting for April. Those that do not want to do the safety tune up can just meet us at Okoboji Grill on 86th at about 6:30 p.m. Dennis will get more information to us on the exact location of the parking lot and start time.
Location for meetings in October, November 2008 and January, February, March and April 2009, will be at Okoboji Grill on 86th street on the second Saturday of each of the listed months.
SAFETY:
o Dennis talked about the Safety Seminar that was yesterday, put on by the state of Iowa. It was a free event with many presenters, venders and about 300 in attendance. We had 8 in our group attend. Bill and Dee were unable to attend as planned. Sherrill’s aunt passed away and they were unable to attend.
o Next year the Safety Forum will be held on March 13th, 2009 at the same location. They have expanded the rooms and can have more people attend.
RAFFLE TICKETS:
See Donna Pittman as our chapter ticket person. We need to sell what we have and turn them in so we can get more.
REGION C REUNION:
Region C is at Nebraska City, Nebraska this year. Please attend if you can. It is June 6-8th. It should be a good time. There was discussion and concern about the statement that there is limited electricity. This shouldn’t keep people from wanting to come and camp!
IMPROMPTU RIDES IN APRIL:
We are probably doing impromptu rides on Saturday or Sunday. We may leave about 1:00 p.m. so we can ride a little farther and find a restaurant to eat.
Many are going to the GWTA Kansas City Spring Fling on April 19th.. It is a good time. Some of us are going to camp and then do the ride on Saturday.
Please remember to check our chapter blog. We do add new things from time to time. If you send us a write up about a trip or good restaurant, we can add it to the blog, as well as pictures.
As the riding season comes, there are many GWTA rides, fun runs and other chapters meetings that we are all welcome to be a part of. There are so many great people in these groups and you can establish some lasting friendships in GWTA.
Ride safe, be safe and enjoy the ride.
Happy Spring!

Next Chapter H meeting
Our next Chapter H meeting is March 15th, 6:30 p.m. at Okoboji Grill on 86th St. Please remember to wear your chapter shirts. We look forward to seeing everyone that can make it. I know there is a lot going on that weekend, but this was the place we could get on a Saturday evening this month.
If anyone is interested in going to Kansas City Spring Fling April 19th, let us know. Several are leaving Friday evening and hope to get camping spots at Watkins Mill in Missouri. We camped there last year and it worked out great. This event and ride is a lot of fun. $10.00 single and $15.00 for a couple (that includes Bike show, ride and dinner.)

This is the link to a Brochure for Region C reunion. If you pre-register before April 15th, you get it at a cheaper rate. It looks like it will be a fun time. It sounds like Nebraska City is really getting behind this event and will hopefully participate and add more to the fun.
